Formulation & Evaluation of Myrrh Toothpaste

Objectives: To formulate and measure the cytotoxicity level of organic myrrh toothpaste. Materials Methods: Myrrh extract was prepared by freeze drying process. Toothpaste formulated mixing specified amounts extract, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) polymer, sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), mint, sucralose with deionized distilled water. MTT test performed using concentrations 100, 200, 300 400 mg/ml to assess effect paste on gingival fibroblasts viability at intervals 24 48hrs. The results were analysed SPSS version 27. Results: toothpaste has a homogeneous consistency as extracted successfully dissolved completely other components. Cell showed that 100 - 300mg/ml effective in maintaining rate growth after 48 hours compared control samples. suppressed samples treated concentration 400mg/ml. study imply is safe optimal for growth, whereas ≥ 400mg/ml are intolerable might be suppressing proliferation fibroblasts.
